These courses are for advanced learners of German. As an entrance requirement, either the HDS Elementary Level Certificate or a corresponding placement test result is necessary. The participants must be at least 16 years old and have completed a minimum of 8 years schooling.
Language skills on level B allow understanding of even complex topics, both in speaking and writing. For students having reached a good level B2, the door is open for a German-language apprenticeship, middle school or university studies, as well as for challenging occupations.
The participants are able to understand longer talks and complex argumentation in their own field. Understanding articles in the media and contemporary literature is possible as well. They can express themselves fluently with a degree of spontaneity, and can present their point of view. On the written level, they can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects.
People, home, free time, occupations, love, holidays, nature and more. The grammar learned on the Elementary Level is studied in more depth; vocabulary is further developed. The skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing are equally focused on.
The Intermediate Level lasts 4 quarters at 10 weeks each. A quarter consists of 90 lessons (67.5 hours). The intermediate program can be compared to a round trip. The material learned on the Elementary Level is reviewed and further developed. As on a round trip, where you begin is not important, what counts is the careful planning so that all of the material is covered.
One quarter at the intermediate level costs CHF 1170, excluding CHF 20 to 90 for books and learning material.
The Intermediate Level B1/B2 ends with the telc-Certificate. The HDS is a telc Test Center, allowing us to offer the corresponding international certificates. For information regarding telc test fees, please contact the Office.
